Room 8 tadpoles

Gemma has kindly  brought us some tadpoles. There is 14 of them! They are growing so fast, we have had to ask Rose to bring us some weed from her fish pond! I'm excited to see what they turn into...

Holidays!

Hey Guys! 
Hope everyone has been having great holidays! I got tonsillitis at the start of the holidays :( It wasn't much fun! But now i'm all good and im enjoying some time with Morgan and hanging out with my family.

Testing our models! These models were designed by groups in Room 8. They were designing a model that would capture rain water.

Technology in room 8

On a really odd morning well that's what I thought. Room Eight and I were starting to make a rain catcher to save water because we are using to much water for a lot of stuff especially for electricity. We started it in our classroom. 

Firstly my group( da unicorns) started to make something to catch water. Miss Lynch handed out some straws and one bottle to each group. We got 3 straws per person in our group. But before we started we had a chat about what we were going to do and we made a plan.  We grabbed the fizzy  bottles we had put a plastic bag over it and taped it on. We poked it with a sharp pen and it made a hole in it. Then we put two straws in it and tested it out it worked. We were really happy so we put cello tape on all the straws so that they would all stick together. And that's all we had time to do. On the next day our group brought a lot of bottles and Gemma brought a bucket. I thought to myself, "OMG I think we have a little to much things". Next week on the Tuesday we tested them out I was really scared that it wasn't going to work but it did. After we tested them out we went onto the field and tipped out all of the water. We  were a little angry with ours because couldn't get the water out as soon as it was in the containers. 

My opinion for next time would be to remember to make something so once we have caught the water we need a way of getting it out of the containers.

Fear Factor

FEAR FACTOR!

Eww, yuck and gross was the sound of room 8 last Tuesday morning. In  the morning miss Lynch had told us to sit at our desk because we had a surprise but first we sang two songs and did the roll. There were 3 yellow bags on the 3 desks up front and 1 grey bag, 1 bucket and a red bag. when the first people went up I heard ''yuck, gross'' yelling,''eww, what is this and I think I know what this is''.

When it was my turn I had the bucket it was wet and we could not say what we thought it was. I was calm and scared then my turn was up we had to wash our hands. then we were done before you know it. Well I thought it was peaches and I was right and they we slimy I was surprised what there was like cous cous, brown sugar, cinnamon, poppy seeds and oats.

In room 8 we are learning  this song at the moment. Pretty cool that the All Blacks even gave it a go!!

I hope you guys are having awesome school holidays!! I went to Wanaka for Easter and watched the war birds over Wanaka, Some of those planes are pretty impressive! Hope Easter Bunny was good to all... he was to me!!
